Connecting Point – April 10, 2024

One of my Daily Bible Reading passages today is from Joshua 1, where the Lord was telling Joshua, the new leader of the Israelite people, what steps he needed to take to really MAKE LIFE COUNT. Here is an excerpt from that Scripture reading.

  • "After the death of Moses the Lord's servant, the Lord spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' assistant. He said, 'Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them. I promise you what I promised Moses: Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you . . . No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is My command - be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.'" (Joshua 1:1-9)

In that encouraging Scripture passage, the Lord promised Joshua that he could count on His promises (Joshua 1:2-4), His power ("I will be with you as I was with Moses") and His presence ("I will not fail you nor abandon you"). Then He challenged Joshua to be strong and courageous and to be committed to following His Word. And the Lord promised Joshua again at the end that He would be with him wherever he went. And we find that what the Lord promised Joshua came to fruition, because Joshua and the Israelites were able to miraculously recapture the land of Israel, the Promised Land.

Make Life Count CP

The good news for us today is that the Lord will make similar promises to us if we are committed, like Joshua, to "making our lives count for God's Kingdom". We've learned the past two weekends at Celebration that if we are willing to pursue Jesus' presence and power in our lives, work hard on our salvation, shine like bright lights in our dark world, and hold on to Jesus (who is the Word of Life), the Lord will empower us to live purposeful, powerful and productive lives - He will enable us to MAKE LIFE COUNT. That's because the God who worked miraculously on behalf of Joshua and the Israelites in that day, is the same God who will work miraculously on our behalf in our day.

Be sure to join us on Sundays and in Life Groups in April as we learn how to MAKE LIFE COUNT. As you do, you will find yourself learning more about God's purposes and plans for your life. And you will find yourself beginning the journey of making a difference for good and for God in our world. If you missed this past Sunday with us, you can catch the service HERE.

Let me remind you to follow up with the people who came with you to our Easter services. Contact them and ask them to give you their feedback as to what they experienced at Celebration. Then encourage them to join us in the coming weeks for special events happening at your Campus. You may also want to invite them to join you at Celebration at City Park Night (May 3) or join you in a Life Group, so they can meet other Celebration members. Also, go ahead and contact the people you invited who didn't attend any of our Easter services, and ask them to consider attending with you in April. Almost everyone wants to find more purpose or meaning for their lives.
