“But the believers who were scattered preached the Good News about Jesus wherever they went.” (Acts 4:8)
When people think about someone sharing the Gospel, they often think about preaching. However, while preaching is a good way to share the Gospel, there are many other ways we can share Christ with others.
First, we can witness by living godly lives. Jesus once said, “Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father.” (Matthew 5:16) When we live godly lives, we are a reflection of Christ’s character and love in our everyday lives and interactions with others. Through our actions, attitudes, and behavior, we can show the world what it means to follow the Lord and be transformed by His grace.
Second, we can witness by sharing Scripture, Christian books, podcasts, worship songs, devotions, or teaching either in person or online. In today’s world, with so much new technology and communication at our fingertips, it would be a waste if we did not use it to share Christ with others.
Third, we can witness by inviting people to Life Groups and Worship Services. We all have the ability to invite others to join us to places where people are sharing the Good News. The Apostle John writes “Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of these men who heard what John the Baptizer said and then followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother, Simon, and tell him ‘We have found the Messiah’ (which means Christ). Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus.” (John 1:40-42)
Fourth, we can witness by ministering to people when they are in need. Everywhere we go, people have problems, even if we don’t see them at first. However, if we are patient and sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s guidance, we will learn about their needs and be able to minister to them. Luke writes that “Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the Devil.” (Acts 10:38) As Christians, we should all follow Jesus’ example.
Finally, we can witness by sharing our faith story with others. We can all share with others about how Jesus has worked in our lives. Jesus said, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere...” (Acts 1:8)
Followup Activity - Make a list of people you know who need Jesus in their lives. Next to each person’s name, write out how you could share Christ with them in the near future. If you’re leading your family through this devotion, complete this activity as a family.
Prayer for Today - Lord, thank You for Your salvation in my life. Help me to always remember the privilege and opportunity I have to share my faith with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
